Welcome to my first journal entry, as well as my first community day recap! I was not actually planning on playing too hard today, but I ended up with my local community and some free time, so I basically played for all three hours of the main event. We made off with a pretty ok haul, 15 shiny Pikipeks total, but no hundos or shiny backgrounds. This is honestly not up to standard for playing all three hours of community day, but as Pikipek is not so important, and I had some alternative goals today, I don’t really mind underperforming on the Pikipek haul.
One of these alternative goals was tracking down a shadow background Pikipek. About an hour or so before the event started there was a singular Report Online of a Shadow Pikipek, with a seasonal background. I do like to consider myself a background collector, and this report very much interested me. I was hoping to dedicate some time and collaborative effort within my community to tracking down some flying grunts in an effort to procure what will inevitably be a very illusive background Pokémon. Unfortunately, there wasn't too much interest and we were only able to track down three flying grunts. Two of which did have Pikipeks, but no one in our group got the background off it. Since the initial report I have not seen another one crop up, so either it got patched before we got to it, or we just got unlucky.
The other alternative goal for today, and the more realistic of the two, was to catch some Dynamax Lugias. I spent nearly two hours yesterday actually attempting the DMax Lugia solo, and failed due to my own stupidity as well as some bad luck. I was pretty confident I could defeat it solo, and I still am if I had another chance. But yesterday I had about 50 attempts in my first go about, until I realised I had been using a GMax Gengar with level 1 max attack the entire time, and not my one with level 3 attack. My second round was then plagued with bad rng, the solo win is only achievable if the Lugia has the moveset Fly/Sky Attack as its large attack, and Future Sight as its targeted attack. Out of 30 attempts I did not roll the desired moveset once. I decided my time was up and called it a day. I was hoping to give it another shot today, but I priortized actually getting some Lugias to leave in power spots instead of possibly wasting hours again and not getting any. During the comday I took down seven Lugias, and actually caught all seven. Wasn't even expecting it but I found a shiny as well! (That is one weird looking Pikipek.) 
Wrapped up the comday on my walk home with a quick Virizion solo. I actually had two other trainers in the lobby with me, but they bailed before we started so it became an unintentional solo raid. I wish they knew I could defeat it solo, that way I could have carried them but oh well. As a reward for my impromptu solo raid, I actually picked up the shiny!
